Sumo’s Infamous Move – Henka

Every sumo wrestling match starts with both wrestlers charging towards each other also known as Tachi-ai. However, sometimes a sumo wrestler tries to sidestep at the tachi-ai and avoids the initial contact causing his opponent to lose balance. This technique is called Henka and most sumo fans frown upon this move and often regarded as bad sumo and unworthy of higher ranked wrestlers.

Despite the hate, Henka is a legal move in Sumo Wretling so I compiled all Hakuho Sho’s bouts where he uses henka. Hope you enjoy! As always thank you for@ watching. Hakkeyoi!!
