Photographer Stuart Franklin on COVID-19

Magnum photographer Stuart Franklin talks us through a series of photos he shot in a COVID-19 intensive care unit when death rates were at an all-time high. He was given access to photograph the patients in the intensive care unit of West Middlesex hospital from late March 2020, where the heroic staff was battling against all odds to save lives.

With remarkable courage and sensitivity, Stuart recalls the chilling details of a hospital operating during the height of the pandemic. Amid all the rampant tragedy, we also hear about true moments of human resilience.
