Indonesia’s Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER) is a 130,000-hectare conservation project to protect and restore essential peat forests on Sumatra island. Patrolling these parts are the RER’s forest rangers—a group of wildlife protectors who guard the forest against illegal loggers and poachers.
VICE’s Omar Prazhari never goes outside, so we sent him to trail these forest rangers. See if he can survive a full day of patrolling, eating jungle fare, and disarming poacher traps with no phone reception at all.

Yoshino Kaigan – Okinawa – Miyako-jima – 吉野海岸
Miyako-Jima Island is located in the eastern part of Okinawa. Yoshino Kaigan is one of Miyako’s most beautiful snorkeling spots and is full of tropical fishes!!!
While we highly recommend visiting the place during high tides, Yoshino Kaigan can also, if you book in advance, be the place of your first surfing lesson due to its perfect reef that creates a small enough wave to carry you gently while you learn the first few tricks of balancing on a surfing board.

Both wrestlers have the perfect combination of strength, speed, fighting spirit and elite grappling skills that made them almost unbeatable in their prime. The Stoners Selling Legal Weed in Thailand
June 9 was a historic day for stoners all over Thailand, as cannabis became officially decriminalized in the kingdom. The entirety of the plant is legal, but extracts containing more than 0.2% and smoking in public is still prohibited. People can now grow, possess and sell cannabis—though the government insists that it should be intended for “medical purposes only,” interpretations seem to vary.
Since the decriminalization, scores of cannabis dispensaries quickly popped up across the country. However, without clear regulations or guidelines, the industry experienced several weeks of a legal free-for-all—much to the disdain of critics. Since then, some regulations have been put forth. For example, vendors must now obtain permits to sell cannabis. As of publishing, however, the legal framework around the production, use, and sale of cannabis still remains largely unclear.
One of the key players in the country’s budding cannabis industry is the advocacy group, Highland. What started as a Facebook page 10 years ago has now grown to the biggest 4/20 festival Thailand has ever seen. Meet Arun “Max” Avery, and Rattapon “Guide” Sanrak, and Chaiwat “Wat” Banjai, co-founders of Highland Café. It’s one of the country’s most famous legal dispensaries that now also sells buds, much to the delight of the hundreds of customers lined up outside their doors.

Former US Army Parachute Team member and combat veteran Michael Elliott rates nine airborne jumps in movies, such as “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” for realism.
Elliott breaks down the accuracy of static-line jumps, skydiving scenes and military free falls, such as HALO jumps, in “Godzilla” (2014), and “Mission: Impossible — Fallout” (2018), starring Tom Cruise. He rates paratrooper jumps in “A Bridge Too Far” (1977). He looks at the realism of demonstration and competitive-style skydiving in “San Andreas” (2015), “Die Another Day” (2002), and “Point Break” (1991), starring Keanu Reeves. He also breaks down the plausibility of emergency-parachuting techniques in “Drop Zone” (1994), “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (2014), and “Black Widow” (2021), starring Scarlett Johansson.
Elliott is a 26-year combat veteran and was a member of the US Army Parachute Team, nicknamed the Golden Knights, for 11 years. He is the founder and president of the All Veteran Group, a parachute team of active and retired military members that focuses on parachute demonstrations and tandem parachute experiences.
